Being Mary Jane

Addiction is a bisnotch!!!!

When people think about addiction they believe it only comes in a form of a substance, a drug, or an alcohol.  But there are many addictions, such as addiction to work, addiction to pain, addiction to a person, addiction to confusion, addiction to money etc.

Addiction is anything that controls your thoughts to the point that it does not allow you to have a balanced life.  I remember after I left the music business and started the journey I am on now of having a successful speaking and breakthrough coaching business, I became addicted to making it a success, and making it a success fast.  When opportunities would not happen or disappointed me you might have thought I just lost my mind.  I would get depressed and upset and cry each time.  I was hustling so I created many opportunities but they just did not pan out.  I figured out that I was not doing it for the right reasons.  I wanted to become a success not because I had something to offer but because I wanted to show people my success and I wanted them to look and talk about my success.

I was driven by the wrong thing.  It’s like trying to drive a car in neutral instead of drive.  When you are in neutral you cannot move someone or something must move you along.  That is what having an addiction is like, it’s like you are driving your life in the wrong gear and you have no control because something is moving you along.  The problem is you never actually go anywhere though it feels like it.

Let me make it a point that now I am in drive and I am no longer addicted to success because I no longer feel like I have to prove anything to anyone.  I want my business to work Meagan McLeod Communications LLC because I know that God has given me gifts that can help others.

I know I am now driving my life in the right gear.

Mary Jane’s addiction to the married man I believe is not about loving him it’s about wanting what she thinks is hers and not letting go.  It’s about having control.  So the addiction is not to love or even to this man, but it’s about being addicted to control.  In a backwards way people in this situation believe they have control because this man is leaving the home where his wife and kids are to see her.  I mean he even gave her a ring. He is risking everything… to see her.  But really she has no control, whatsoever.

I won’t ask you are you addicted to anything but I will ask you what is driving your life.

Are you in Neutral or are you in Drive?

Being Mary Jane

Being Mary Jane last week was great.

One lesson that just screamed at me was when Mary Jane was speaking with her co-worker and she exclaimed that she thinks she is not supposed to get married; “It’s just something that I am not supposed to do, maybe I just thought I was supposed to do it, like a trained seal!!!.”  While I agree that marriage is not for everyone, this does not seem to be the way for Mary Jane.

Mary Jane is like a lot of other women and people in general that has a dream and gets rid of it when they come across a few pit falls on the way to accomplishing that goal.  Pit falls are going to happen; they are just the natural detours of life.  Mary Jane falling in love with a married man and also giving her heart to a man that could take her or leave her, are just examples of the pit falls of life.

I remember I heard Tyler Perry say during an interview that chasing your dreams is like following a GPS system towards a destination.  The GPS just tells you how to get to your destination, it does not tell you ahead of time the accident that may happen and the traffic jam you may come across but it seems to always adapt to the detours and it continues to move forward.

You must be like that GPS system.  Even though you have pitfalls trying to find the “one”, or starting your business, or whatever your dream may be, it does not mean you give up on it.  It just means that you may need to tweak things a little which mean change your perception of things or change how you are moving toward your goal which usually points back to you doing something differently.

Listen; do not drop your goals/dreams just because you have a couple of pit falls.  The pit falls are where the lessons and blessings happen.

Beyonce & The Last Supper

It’s amazing how black people respond to their rich and famous so much differently than other cultures (unless you are a hip-hop artist).

If you happen to be black and have made amazing success and a substantial amount of money and you are not mentioning God or Jesus at every moment then you are worshipping the devil or part of the illuminati.  There are more Black celebrities on the list for being part of the “Illuminati” than any other racial group.  Look up “Illuminati & celebrities” on you tube and the majority of the celebrities mentioned are Black.

So, what does this mean?  Well it means that in order for any black person to have garnered substantial notoriety and success they must, must have sold their soul to the devil.  It also means that Black people cannot reach a certain level based upon their own talents, gifts, and merit.

The picture that BeyoncĂ© put on Instagram was totally misunderstood.  Many people jumped on it and labeled it as evidence that she is against God.  BeyoncĂ© is not the first celebrity; they have done this with Oprah, Jay Z, Rihanna, and many others.

What are we saying here when white celebrities can become a huge success and we acknowledge their talent but black celebrities are looked at as suspect and having done something unworthy?
